Mission of the Kabyle school

A successful school is the key to sustainable social success.

The Kabyle school must, like the best educational systems, has as its mission the development of the child’s personality. It must educate him, instruct him, train him, perfect him, prepare him to live in society by promoting his socialization, and protect him against any attempt at ideological indoctrination.

It must also cultivate in him respect for Kabylian values, while creating a comfortable environment of freedom, security, peace and learning. His ultimate goal should be to prepare him for personal and professional success, to qualify him and encourage him to build a prosperous future, according to his abilities, pace and aspirations.

  • Educate and instruct.
  • Supervise and socialize.
  • Train and qualify.
  • Support and improve.

The right and obligation to education

Schooling is mandatory for all children aged 5 to 17, regardless of the status of the school, whether public or private. This compulsory education is governed by laws of the federal government of Kabylia.

Compulsory education is divided into four complementary levels: preschool, primary, secondary and post-secondary. After secondary education, the student, depending on his preferences and skills, can move towards basic general, technical or professional post-secondary education.

The main objective of educational policy is to ensure equal opportunities for all children. It is the responsibility of the political power to make all the necessary efforts so that each young person can succeed in their compulsory schooling and to achieve their full potential at their own pace, regardless of gender, family or social status, or physical or cognitive abilities.

Public school and free education

The Kabyle public school is accessible free of charge to all children in Kabylia. For those who choose not to attend public school, it is possible to continue their studies in accredited private institutions, in accordance with the policies and laws established by the Kabylian federal government.

At the end of this last (post-secondary) level, which lasts two years, the student can continue his higher education if he has reached the required level, after obtaining a Post-Secondary Teaching Certificate (PSTS), or opt for advanced vocational training. Alternatively, he can enter the labor market with a Vocational Education Diploma (DEP) and start his professional life.

Each child must be able to find his place in the Kabylian school that corresponds to him, so that he has all the necessary means to succeed in his school career. The Kabylian authorities and the federal government must therefore take all appropriate measures: political, financial, human, educational and material to ensure this success.
